چکیده

We consider a nonconforming streamline-diiusion nite element method for solving convection-diiusion problems. The theoretical and numerical investigation for triangular and tetrahedral meshes recently given by John, Maubach and Tobiska has shown that the usual application of the SDFEM gives not a suucient stabilization. Additional parameter dependent jump terms have been proposed which preserve the same order of convergence as in the conforming case. The error analysis has been essentially based on the existence of a conforming nite element subspace of the nonconforming space. Thus, the analysis can be applied for example to the Crouzeix/Raviart element but not to the nonconforming quadrilat-eral elements proposed by Rannacher and Turek. In this paper, parameter free new jump terms are developed which allow to handle both the triangular and the quadrilateral case. Numerical experiments support the theoretical predictions.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| Fem Simulation of Double Diiusive Convective F L O Ws Using an Object Oriented Approach

We present results for numerical simulations of double di usive convection in a rectangular cavity in a variety of situations. The simulations are performed using a streamline-upwind Petrov-Galerkin penalty nite-element method. The uid is modeled as a Boussinesq uid and the Navier Stokes equations are solved in conjunction with the time dependent scalar-convection di usion equations for tempera...

Microstructure dependence of diusional transport

A simple and e€ective numerical method is proposed for simulating the temporal di€usive mass transport process through a microstructure with arbitrary complexity described by a phase-®eld approach. The mass di€usion through a given microstructure is modeled by a di€usion equation with a variable di€usion coecient, which is solved by an ecient and accurate semi-implicit spectral method. It is ...

A nonoscillatory numerical scheme based on a general solution of 2-D unsteady advection–di usion equations

A non-oscillatory numerical scheme based on a general solution of unsteady advection–di usion equations is presented. A general solution for initial value problems of linear two-dimensional unsteady advection–di usion equations is obtained using the spectral method. The resulting numerical scheme is explicit with respect to time, and ful lls the Patankar’s positive coe cients condition for any ...
